Abstract

Active self-organization is central to biological organization and function across scales. In this talk, I will discuss our attempts to understand two different instances of pattern formation in cells through mathematical and computational modeling. First, I will focus on the physical mechanisms controlling patterning of hydraulic delaminations at cell adhesions, relevant to some morphogenetic processes and to tissue cohesion under hydraulic stress. Second, I will show how active self-organization can explain a diversity of actin nematic architectures.
